A Poet's Dream What constitutes a poet's dream? Non-poets wonder in awe. What motivates those that write In rhyming and non-rhyming verse To create poems of worlds Unlike, even subtily, our own. What constitutes a poet's dream? I actually cannot say For poets are as individual As the species that roam the earth But all are connected by poetry By the verse they all write. What constitutes a poet's dream? Is it butterflies and pretty things Or the evil denziens of hell come to play? It is all of the above and more The dream depending on the mind of the poet But still made of the stuff of poems. What constitutes a poet's dream? Do they wander unbidden Whenever the mind is set free? Or do they lurk in the shadows Only to be found when looked for? Both and none, it depends on the poet and his dream. What constitutes a poet's dream? Can it be truely found Or will it always live In the realms of the mind of the poet? The answer for this question will have to wait A dream beckons...and I answer... - Bem Ajani Jones-Bey
