Reverie I listened intently to a discussion, But was soon far away, In lands of my mind's devising. Flying through silky soft clouds Dotting the great azure blue sky; Over hills glittering brilliantly with emerald trees. A long expanse of farmland extends to the east; While behind me, mountains reach for the skies. Gracefully flipping head-over-heels, I land on the snow-tipped peaks. Knee deep in snow, I look around and smile. Walking forward slowly, soon becoming a run, I speed down the slope as the grade gradually decreases; The sparse evergreens part, revealing a palace, A wondrous castle in the snow. My home, my castle; Able to repel any attack, yet looking startlingly fragile, The battlements crowned with icicle spikes, Glittering in the winter sun; As it sets slowly over the farmland, Ending my journey in this world, And returning to the discussion, In reality; And hoping I can go back soon. - Bem Ajani Jones-Bey
